The City

Porto is a unique city. A city of architecture, music, literature and theatre; history and culture; river and sea; gastronomy and wine; sports; days and nights; of strong accent and fierce feelings; of and for all ages... A city of granite light, of clothes drying in the window sills, of stairway houses designing a wall.
Ancient, very noble, always loyal and invicta, epithets that have been attributed to the city over the centuries, of which the historic resistance during the liberal wars conferred the greatest of predicates: Invicta, the undefeated city.
Porto has been distinguished several times as best European destination, awarded the certificate of quality of life and identified as a safe city. It is the second largest city in Portugal and one of the largest urban areas on the Iberian Peninsula, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and as a National Monument of Portugal.
It is a city where you’ll want to return.

History &
Architecture

A building can tell many stories: about its guests, their lives, their relationship with the city, the time in which they lived.
Located at 333-339 in Rua do Almada, Laranjais is one of these unique places, spanning the last 250 years of the city's history. In this house have lived and worked actors, businessmen and journalists; influential families, merchants and men of fortune; judicial, fiscal and religious institutions; newsrooms and typographies of daily newspapers, fashion magazines and commercial pamphlets.
Dating from 1765-1780, Laranjais is an example of national bourgeois architecture. Throughout history, the building was gradually adapted to accommodate working spaces, residential units, and shops. Until this day, after a long period of neglect, when it became a premium hotel project in the heart of Porto, committed to the local community and to the recovery and preservation of history.
The ideal place to set out to discover the city or the perfect place to retire from it.
